Teeth Whitening

The discoloration of the teeth can be removed with the bleaching process and you can have whiter teeth. The teeth whitening process is quite different from the polishing process after the tartar cleaning process. In the teeth whitening process, the own color tone of the tooth can be lightened by 2-3 tons. The teeth whitening process can be applied as office bleaching applied by the physician in the office environment, and home bleaching that the patient will apply at home, with gels containing lower ratio bleaching agents thanks to a transparent plaque given to the patient with the measurements taken from the patient.

So what is the teeth whitening process like?

+ - Ofis Bleaching

Office type whitening is the most effective method among all whitening systems. Since the peroxide ratios of the bleaching agents used in the bleaching process performed during the examination are higher, the bleaching is faster and the permanence is longer. Before the teeth whitening process is applied; In order to get a more effective result, the patient should be cleaned of calculus before whitening. Photographs are taken from the patient before and after the sessions, and color determination is made. The number of sessions to be applied is usually 2 or 3 and varies according to the coloration of the tooth. Since we do not want the gums to be damaged before the procedure, they are covered with a protective barrier and then the whitening gel is applied to the teeth. Whitening gel is applied to the teeth for 2 or 3 periods with approximately 15-minute periods. Between sessions, the patient is asked to stay away from coloring foods (tea, coffee, wine, etc.) and to minimize smoking. Sensitivity can be seen between whitening sessions, but; With the desensitizing toothpastes to be used, these sensitivities are eliminated.

+ - Home Bleaching

In the bleaching system, which we call home type, a transparent plaque suitable for the patient is produced by determining the color and the measurement taken from the patient before the treatment. In home-type teeth whitening, bleaching agents containing a lower percentage of “Carbamide Peroxide” are used. The prepared transparent plaque and tubes containing the whitening agent are given to the patient and the physician explains how to apply it to his teeth. The patient applies the drug in accordance with the recommendations of the dentist, 2 times a day for 2 weeks or only at night for 1-2 weeks while sleeping. With weekly controls, the progress of the treatment is monitored and necessary changes are made. The dentist and the patient should decide together which method to apply whitening to the patient.

+ - What is the Success Rate in the Whitening Process?

Studies have shown that the satisfaction rate of patients is quite high, especially in tea, coffee, cigarette and age-related discolorations. However; Very good results cannot be obtained in discolorations called “fluorosis” due to drugs or excessive fluoride.

+ - How Long Does Teeth Whiteness Last?

Although it varies depending on the factors that vary from person to person, the whiteness of the teeth continues between 3 months and 3-4 years. While the life of acquired whiteness is shorter in individuals who use tea, coffee and cigarettes, the lifespan of whiteness can be much longer in other individuals. Regular controls are provided every 6 months before the teeth return to their old colors, and if necessary, repeating the bleaching process every 6 months or once a year ensures that the whiteness is longer lasting, shortens the duration of the second whitening and is economically advantageous.

Dental Implant

Implants are screws made of titanium that are used in the treatment of missing teeth and placed inside the jawbone. A dental prosthesis is placed on these screws. The advantage of implant treatment over other treatments is that neighboring teeth are not damaged.
